el Chubbo Grande

Hmmm, this route looks to be about 50 kilometers long with enough climbing to trim up your holiday-inflated Chubby Cheeks (~8000').

Red = out
Green = back
Blue = short cuts

Short cut from Arthurs Rock = Marathon(ish) (~7,000')
Short cut down Mill Creek = 22-23 miles (~5,500')

Ummm, feel free to print and use for future reference:

  1. Nice! Looks like a blast, can't wait to check out the FoCo trails--you gotta profile on this puppy?

  2. In the works, but basically it is three climbs and four descents in the 1000' to 1,500' range with a bunch of 200'-800' rolling stuff in between.

  3. Sweet! And no wilderness boundary issues.

  4. Looks like a good route! Too bad I will have to miss it...if you are up for it, maybe we could do a preview in a couple weeks?

  5. Any time, Nick. Just let me know.

    Brownie, I'll be sure to clearly mark the short-cut turn-off for you.

  6. wouldn't it be easier to just run Towers 5 times?

  7. Aaron - saw you were out practicing at Horsetooth today. Shoot me an email next time you're up there at noon, or I'll be forced to let the air out of your tires. Oh, and if you want a guaranteed win, then by all means do the Towers route.

  9. What time are you thinking of starting, so I can start ~3 hours early :) Guess I'd better make it out to the TT tonight...

  10. Joselyne - I think we are going to have an 8 and a 9 start time, in hopes that most people are back between 2 & 3 for beer and food. With the shorter routes, I figure that people can work out a start time and course length that gets them back by early afternoon. More to come on that though. See you on the hill!

  11. xcuse me but it's the first time i came on your blog.....so...i believed you was a talented runner but a bit lazy on your training volume....i'd never realized how much your running in competition......22!!!!!!!!!!! done yet! and 4 more before the end of 2010!!!!!!!!!!
    i though only kilian managed a such way of competitive behaviour (less training more running fast)....but now i understand why you've both cross the line quasi in the same time on western state;-)
    great to have a look on such way of running
